Never one to praise microsoft but I have to say that their new anti spyware has worked wonders on my laptop

Sure Caoimhe, I use that tool extensively as well on PCs and servers I manage - however, praising Microsoft for this application is inappropriate because if they hadn't written such shoddy software in the first place, there'd be no requirement for this application.

For example, I have no antivirus software and no anti-spyware software installed on my Mac - I don't need them because there are no viruses or spyware, to speak of, for the Mac.

Why? Don't be fooled by people who cite market share or anti-Microsoft bias as the reasons why there is more spyware and malware for Microsoft - the reality is that there are so many security holes in Microsoft's software, it is a trivial matter to write exploits for Windows.

Apple's OS X operating system, on the other hand, is based on peer reviewed open source software and thus is secure.
